How to get a new Social Security card?

Each and every application is processed through our proprietary screening algorithm to ensure it is error-free and ready to be approved by the SSA. Once complete, you will receive your customized application package with all the hard work already done for you!

Simply follow the guidelines to mail the package to the local social security office and receive your new Social Security card in two weeks!

Special requirement for new Social Security card applicants

If the applicant is younger than 13 years old, you must go in person to the social security office to process the application. Please refer to our detailed notice for this type of request.

What documents do I need to apply for my Social Security card?

In order to get a new Social Security card, you must prove your identity, your age, and your immigration status. You can mail one of the following combinations:

- U.S Passport
- U.S State ID and a U.S Birth Certificate
- U.S Driver's License and a U.S Birth Certificate
- U.S Military Card and a U.S Birth Certificate
- School ID Card (showing your date of birth and a recent photograph) and a U.S Birth Certificate
- Government ID Card (showing your date of birth and a recent photograph) and a U.S Birth Certificate

Important Note: Your ID document will be returned in a separate mail since the agencies which validate your application and process your new card are not at the same location.

All documents submitted must be original. No photocopies are accepted. The U.S. Birth Certificate must be a Certified Copy. The U.S. Birth Certificate can be replaced by a Certificate of Naturalization.

Tool Tips: If you need a Certified Copy of your Birth Certificate, please use the Birth Certificate Request on Vital Records Online

How long does it take to receive a Social Security card replacement?

The social security administration requires two weeks to process your application from the date of reception. Depending on the number of requests and the local office workload, this processing time may vary.

New card requests may take longer depending on your immigration status. If you are applying with an approved VISA, this process may take an extra 1 to 4 weeks.
